College Cultural Passport Program

Purpose of the College Cultural Passport Program

To increase attendance for campus events and to support the “Life of the Mind” of our College community. The theme is “performance-based” – meaning only events in Academics, Arts and Athletics in which the College’s students, faculty, staff and/or alumni are showcased. These events will be designated College Cultural Passport events. For example, a prominent speaker outside of the College would NOT fit the criteria.

The target audience for this program is College of Charleston faculty and staff.

Program Requirements

There is already a significant inventory of various arts, academic and athletics events across campus.

Proof of event attendance will be an “honor system” in which faculty/staff will self-report attendance at an event through the MyCharleston portal/link. For most events, entry will be FREE for a faculty/staff member and one guest. Please be sure to have your Cougar ID with you.

Faculty and staff that meet the minimum annual “requirement” of events (six total) will be tabbed as a Cultural Ambassador and be honored in some fashion, possibly at the Faculty/Staff Back-to-School Picnic in August.

The primary stewardship of the program will be a collaboration between the President’s Office, Academic Affairs, Athletics, School of the Arts and the Division of Marketing and Communications.

If you are putting on an event that features student, faculty or alumni talent and you want it to see if would be appropriate for the College Cultural Passport Program, please contact the following administrators: for Academic events – Ana Gilpatrick; for Arts – Nandini McCauley; for athletics – Jessica Rodgers.
